Winter's Tune

Drowsily the ebony sky bids goodnight 
Crows rustle, preparing for a chilly flight 
Frosted streets glaze with a hazy yellow,
Streetlamps sleepily cast their light so mellow 
The retiring Sun chuckles at the attempt 
But December leads to vitality spent 
The last of the stars send their final kisses 
Silvery wind whisper its bedtime wishes 
Thickly the cold sinks, heating Winter souls
Yet knitwear is donned, as to not catch a cold 
Houses costume as Santa’s workshop up North 
Each window a glowing photograph of warmth
Twinkling trees blush a faint golden yellow
Crackling fireplaces and kitten-soft pillows 
Snowflakes pirouette through the frigid night 
Promising magic for tomorrow’s bright light
