With the seismic upgrade renovations well underway, Alpha is undergoing major changes. On Thursday, February 2nd, a few visitors from the Burnaby Board of Education came to visit Alpha to see the undergoing developments, including Burnaby School District Superintendent Gina Niccoli-Moen, Burnaby School District Secretary Treasurer Russell Horswill, Burnaby School Board Trustee Baljinder Narang, and Burnaby North MLA Richard T. Lee.
Principal Mr. Brandt, vice-principals Mr. Genge and Dr. Frank, Unitech Construction Management Site Supervisor Ryan Bos, Unitech Construction Management Ernesto Ayala, former Alpha alumni Mateo Toledo, and peer mentors welcomed the group into the school in the morning. Students’ Council president Kevin Zou, and students Janelle Mckenzie, Philman Yeung, and Victor Yin briefly talked about their involvement at Alpha and their hope regarding the upcoming developments before the group went on a tour of the school and the construction site. The seismic upgrade is slated to be completed next year, bringing memorable changes to the school and the community.
