What belongs on pizza and what doesn’t? Everybody has opinions and preferences on how to top the delicious food. Last week in a Grade 8 Foods class, students made pizza, but during the lab, a heated debate started.
Pineapple? Olives? Peppers? Mushrooms? All of these toppings are debated upon when it comes to topping a pizza just right. But what do the students of Alpha think?
Regarding pineapple, Thomas Chen says that “It tastes good... but it doesn’t belong on pizza.”
Personally, I love pineapple on my pizza, and I also enjoy mushrooms. I especially agree with the comment that Rhea Ding-Chen added, “Anything can be on pizza except for olives.”
But why put pineapple on pizza, some may ask? Norah Kenward-Richard explains. “It gives some freshness and a little bit of sweetness against all the savory.”
The politics of pizza is a complicated subject that creates great controversy in the world of food, but one thing is for certain: cheese belongs on pizza… right?
