Grad Spirit Week ran from April 4th to April 8th this year, proving to be a sweet event requested and inspired by Alpha’s Grade 12s!
Our first step into Grad Spirit Week began with “Monochrome Monday!” It’s in the name: seniors wore various variations of black, white, and gray, and it was an opportunity for many to participate in spirit week without needing to heavily alter their regular attire.
Next up was “Dress Like a Teacher Tuesday”, the perfect chance for students to show some appreciation for their instructors–or subtly tease their outfit choices
“White Lies Wednesday” brought out some snarky creativity, with students writing out a white lie on a piece of paper and taping it on a white shirt. E.g.; a shirt that read “My birkenstocks are real!” when the student’s shoes were, in fact, not real. Do I really have to spell it out for you? Satirical comments mocked anything from clothing authenticity to height disparities and character traits
“Kindergarten Thursday” allowed people to dig into their memories and show off the personality of their younger self. Whether it was sporting tacky colours or ill-fitting combinations, kindergarten fits were certainly…unique. Ah, childhood
And finally, “Grad Merch Friday” helped to tie up the week with cozy sweats and shirts. Seniors were happy to sport their student designed merch items and demonstrate some grade camaraderie.
To all the younger students, you can be sure to look forward to sweet grade events such as this one in your final year!
